Pershing GTX90: Why the New 28-Metre Sport Utility Yacht Works for Day Charter

The Mediterranean does not always need more yacht.

Sometimes it needs the right amount of yacht.

Large enough to feel proper. Small enough to remain agile. Comfortable enough for a family or a group. Fast and open enough to keep the day moving. This is exactly the range many clients should consider before automatically jumping to 40 metres and beyond.

A yacht of this size can work from a hotel, villa or larger yacht programme. It can serve as a premium day charter, a chase boat, a weekend yacht or a family platform for places where the sea is close and the day is the product.

Capri. Costa Smeralda. Ibiza. Formentera. Saint-Tropez. Portofino.

In these places, a yacht that can move well and open properly at anchor may be more valuable than one that simply photographs larger.

The aft deck is the reason to care

The GTX90's cockpit is the important part.

Pershing describes an elevated aft cockpit designed to amplify connection with the sea, with two fold-down side terraces extending the beam at the cockpit and bringing the total area to 37 square metres. The zone includes a panoramic sunpad, lounge space and direct visual continuity with the main deck.

That is exactly where Mediterranean charter is going.

The GTX90 also has a 33-square-metre sportbridge, which Pressmare notes is 43 percent larger than the average for yachts of comparable size. It includes lounging, dining and helm positions under a generous hard top.

A flybridge or sportbridge can easily become an afterthought: too hot, too exposed, too disconnected. When it is properly sized and shaded, it gives the group another rhythm. Some guests stay aft. Some move up. Children disappear into a second zone. The captain can operate without cutting the social flow.

A good yacht lets people separate without leaving the same day.

Waterjets and Mediterranean movement

The first GTX90 is powered by two MAN V12X engines of 2,200 mhp each, paired with Castoldi TurboDrive 600 HCT waterjets.

That is not only about speed.

Waterjets change the character of the boat: manoeuvrability, shallow-water confidence, acceleration, sporty handling and the feeling that movement is part of the pleasure. In places like Sardinia or the Balearics, this can be useful when the day depends on adjusting to wind, crowding or lunch timing.

But speed is only tasteful when it serves the itinerary.

Who should charter this type of yacht

The GTX90 category makes sense for guests who want a serious yacht day without turning the experience into a formal superyacht week.
